Love Your Melon has been on campus for three years now, but as of this year is an official Registered Student Organization here at Bryant. If you haven’t heard about Love Your Melon yet, we’re a national organization on over 700 college campuses across the country. The Crew program is made up of college students on a mission to make a difference in the lives of children fighting cancer. Through the sale of apparel, Love Your Melon is able to donate 50% of profits to cancer research funds and offer a one-for-one business model that puts hats on the heads of children battling cancer. Love Your Melon is much more than students pushing to sell. It’s through the sale of apparel that a Love Your Melon Crew earns credits. The more credits earned, the more crews get to visit children in hospitals or at their homes, and the more smiles put onto brave faces of scared families.
Today, October 20th, is important to the Love Your Melon mission. To the 700 plus college campuses around the nation, it is Love Your Melon Day. It’s a day where, right now, thousands of students and communities are coming together to brighten the day of children that are fighting for their lives and families that are fighting for their children. Hundreds of campus crews will be partaking in in-house visits at children’s homes. Hundreds of campuses will be bringing their school communities together to create care packages or cards to send off to the tiny little superheroes in hospitals. The day isn’t all about Love Your Melon as an organization, it’s about raising awareness for childhood cancer and bringing people together to make a difference.
Tonight at 6:30 PM in Room 2C of Fisher, our Bryant crew will be celebrating Love Your Melon Day by creating cards and coming together as a community. These cards will go out to children across America that are battling cancer every day. We hope you’ll come join us and help to brighten up a day in a little guy’s tough life. We could always use more superheroes on campus.
The next Love Your Melon meeting will be October 27th in Room 2C of the Fisher Center. New members are always welcome. If you’re interested in purchasing apparel to support the mission, head to www.loveyourmelon.com and choose “Bryant University Crew” at checkout.
