Today is the day you rethink your options. There is plenty to do on any given day here as a Bulldog. If you find yourself out of things to do, try going for a walk around campus. You might be surprised how much it can really make a difference in your day. With multiple shaded areas or benches to plop yourself down, you can kickstart your day with a beautiful sunrise near the fountain. If you’ve wanted to make a change to your life and start living a healthier lifestyle, head on over to Chace Wellness Center for an hour or two in the gym. There is plenty of equipment to go around, especially if you get there early in the morning.
Now that football season is upon us, catch an afternoon game here on campus at Beirne Stadium Complex and watch our Bulldogs go to work on the field. Come support your fellow classmates and cheer them on!
If you’re looking for a quick bite to eat or a cup of coffee, Fischer Student Center is the center for all student’s wants and needs. Dunkin’ Donuts, Scoop Convenience Store, and Subway offer a wide variety to choose from. And let’s not forget the one and only Nick’s Place that settles your Freshman 15 cravings.
If you want to be outdoors for an active day, get your running shoes on and go for a mile, two, or ten at the Track and Turf, so long as you can withstand it. The basketball court always has pickup games going but just be sure to form a team and call next when you get there! If you want to try something new, go to the tennis court or soccer field and meet some new people in the next match.
Trying to get involved but don’t know where to start? Join a new club or organization you are interested in. Ask around for any upcoming community service events or anything else run by student government. Chances are there is an academic association related to your major that you could invest your time in. Who knows, you might find out that your current major is not actually what you want to continue with. There is always some sort of event or activity going on. Everything you could possibly want is at your disposal, you just have to step out of your room and engage yourself with the Bulldog community.
Feeling up for a hike and scenic walk in nature on a weekend morning? Head on over to Mowry Conservation Area. The trail is just shy of a mile away from campus and makes for an excellent walk in nature. Bring your dog, your friends, or just yourself. The trail is certainly a nice getaway if you need one.
If you aren’t a fan of the outdoors or the rain is too much to bear, you can always catch a short ride on the RIPTA to Kennedy Square and spend the day shopping at Providence Place Mall. They pretty much have every store you are looking for, ranging from Apple to fix your dropped iPhone, GNC to refill your protein storages, or The North Face to prepare yourself for a cold
winter. Finish off the day with either a movie at the cinema or an evening dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, Panera Bread, or Uno’s Pizzeria and Grill.
If you’re someone who loves the thrill of heights and needs to try something new for a change, take a drive over to Boston Skydive Center. The friendly staff make first timers experience unique and unforgettable. They are very knowledgeable and will make your time worthwhile.
Let’s not forget about academics. The Academic Innovation Center really makes your homework sessions more bearable when you book a room with friends. Whether you need to get off to a good start on a group project or are simply trying to finish writing a paper, the experience you have in the AIC is truly enjoyable.
