This past weekend the Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization at Bryant University traveled to Kansas City, MO to compete against more than 400 universities from all over the world. Each year, CEO National Headquarters sponsors an informative, action-packed global conference that attracts nearly 1,000 collegiate level students (and their faculty advisors) from around the world. During the three-day conference, attendees network with other entrepreneurial-minded students and listen to presentations from seasoned and emerging entrepreneurs, subject matter experts, motivational speakers, and fellow students making the transition from dreamers to doers.

Bryant CEO President, Nick Anketell ’19, along with Isabel Hamilton ’20, VP of Membership, and Savanna Templeton ’21, VP of Events, were selected to serve on Chapter Development panels where they spoke to Bryant CEO’s experiences in leadership, building membership, and idea pitch competitions, in hopes of inspiring up and coming CEO chapters to strive for greatness.

In addition to serving on Chapter Development panels, for the first time in 5 years, Bryant CEO received two first-place awards!

The first award, Outstanding Marketing and Social Media, was defined by CEO headquarters as “Recognizing that with any business, customers don’t just arrive on your door step or visit your website–CEO acknowledges its chapters that partake in outstanding Marketing and or Social Media efforts. Social Media or Marketing helps elevate our global brand, increases membership and creates a unique call to action for campus leaders to demonstrate the importance of supporting collegiate level entrepreneurs.”

The second award was for Best Cross Campus Innovation and Networking. This award is presented to the CEO Chapter that is not only impacting business majors, but expanding beyond the college of business by interacting, organizing, and engaging other colleges or programs. Furthermore, this award recognizes that chapters networking, electronically or in person, will drive long-term resources for the professional success of its members.

Bryant CEO was also selected as a Finalist for the Global Chapter of the Year award. The Global Chapter of the Year award is presented to a CEO chapter that demonstrates excellence in developing its organization, its leaders, and while offering a comprehensive and meaningful entrepreneurship experience for CEO members. Bryant CEO has been award Best Chapter 5 times and nominated 11 times.

Bryant CEO not only demonstrated a strong presence from students who attended the conference but also from Bryant CEO alumni who were chosen as speakers for the conference. Former Bryant CEO Presidents Ken Roberts ’12 and Harris Roberts ’14 were selected to present on Building a Passive Digital Venture [In Your Dorm Room]. Ken and Harris illustrated how their Bryant education coupled with their experience through Bryant CEO helped them become successful entrepreneurs later on in life. Both Ken and Harris stressed to the aspiring entrepreneurs in the room that to build your own company, one must understand how to take calculated risks and trust in yourself.

Alongside Ken and Harris, former Bryant CEO President Matt Wilson ’06 served as a keynote speaker for the conference. Matt was formerly the co-founder of the media site Under30CEO (Acquired 2016) and is the Host of the Live Different Podcast on Business, Travel, Health, and Performance. Matt is also the co-founder and CEO of Under30Experiences, a travel company for individuals between 21-35, is ranked 801 on the Inc. 5,000 Fastest Growing Private Companies in America. Under30Experiences is an eco-tourism company that supports local communities throughout the world ranging from the El Cocal, Costa Rica Cooking Experience to the Melayang, Bali Children’s Orchestra, to the Ocutuan, Peru Textile Experience.
