Snapchat is a mobile app that allows users to message each other with images. The concept of snapchat is that pictures and messages show up for a limited amount of time set by the user ranging from 1 to 10 seconds before disappearing. The app was created in 2011 by Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy, and Reggie Brown. The app transformed from being a person photo sharing media base to adding “stories” that show content for 24 hours along with the “discover” page. The “discover” page also allows brands to show short-term entertainment. 158 million people use snapchat a day. The average snapchat user opens the app eighteen times a day. Snapchat’s stock price was up and down in the beginning of February due to a new Snapchat update. The update was intended to make the app easier to use and filter out content from influencers and publishers. They aimed to attract an older generation to their app with the update. They believed the update would make snapchat more user friendly.
